Choral Society Calls for Singers

The Greenwich Choral Society, the area's premier choral group, is holding open auditions Saturday for singers looking for a place to perform. The not-for-profit member-based musical organization is holding open auditions for new choristers in all voice parts.

The society typically numbers more than 120 singers and has room for more. Open to all ages and experience levels, Greenwich Choral Society singers must be able to commit to more than 50 rehearsals and at least six performances per season. Each chorister is reauditioned every two years.

Auditions will be held with the society's music director. The audition is 10 minutes. Everyone who auditions will be asked about experience then will perform vocal exercises to test tonal quality and pitch before sight-reading some musical phrases.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Karen Juul at 203-348-3729. Open auditions take place in the third floor Choir Room of the First Congregational Church, at 108 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich. The first rehearsal of the 2010-11 season will be Tuesday, Sept. 14.
