GREENWICH, Conn. Carrie Finlayson, 69, a longtime resident of Greenwich, died at Greenwich Hospital on April 3.
Born Nov. 4, 1942, Finlayson was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Bucknell University and earned an MBA from Memphis State University. A certified public accountant for 25 years, she practiced as a tax specialist for Ernst & Ernst and in her own accounting practice of 12 professionals in White Plains, N.Y.
During her career, Finlayson was elected as the first female president of three organizations in Westchester County, including the New York Society of CPAs, the Estate Planning Council and the Institute of Management Accountants. She was also a founding officer and past president of the American Society of Women Accountants in Westchester.
In retirement, Finlayson pursued her lifelong love of music as treasurer of the Chamber Players of the Greenwich Symphony and as a member of the music committee of Round Hill Community Church. She sang alto in the church choir and for the Westfair Singers. In past years, Finlayson co-chaired the church women's group and food services committee for St. Luke's homeless shelter.
Finlayson was predeceased by her husband, John; a son, Stuart; and a sister; Dee Leibersberger. She is survived by two sons, Douglas, of Minneapolis, and Raleigh, of Cambridge, Mass., as well as a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Round Hill Community Church. A reception will be held at the family home after the memorial. Funeral arrangements are by Castiglione Funeral Home in Greenwich.
