GREENWICH, Conn. When a loved one becomes ill, caregivers are often charged with a difficult, all-consuming role. The Caregivers Circle in Greenwich is back this spring to help caregivers support their loved ones and get information.
The spring session of the Caregiver Circle starts Wednesday, March 7. The four-part series is open to nonprofessional caregivers in the community. Each session showcases a guest speaker with an extensive background in their field. It is designed to provide information on caregiving and a support network of other caregivers. Information sessions typically include discussions on topics such as coping methods for the caregiver or safety and emergency preparedness.
The spring program will feature The Pathways of Aging by Dr. Stephen G. Jones; Caregiving Techniques That Work by Carol Burns and Peg Drenckhahn; Legal Planning by Cynthia L. Singer, a lawyer; and Family Challenges and Caregiver Wellbeing by Jane Kramer, a licensed clinical social worker.
The Caregiver Circle will be held on alternating Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at River House, located at 125 River Road Ext. in Cos Cob. Lunch will be provided, and respite is available with prior arrangements for participants who are caring for someone during the day.
The Caregiver Circle is free of charge and open to the community. Registration is required for all sessions. For questions and to RSVP, contact Sarah Gleeson at 203-622-0079. A full schedule can be viewed online.
The Caregiver Circle was founded in 2009 by the Junior League of Greenwich, the Commission on Aging, the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross and Greenwich Adult Daycare to help caregivers gain an understanding of the many issues related to caregiving.
