Children grow up playing store and counting money in a plastic register. Then teens graduate to maintaining their weekly allowance. It is never too young to start teaching children about managing money. State Rep. Fred Camillo, R-151st District, will host a financial literacy discussion for parents and teens.
"Financial literacy is geared toward kids," said John M. Dooley, a House Republican spokesman. "This program is to educate kids, of all ages, about money and how to take care of it. As they get older, go off to college or head out on their own, we hope to have children who know how to manage their finances."
The discussion will feature Jill Russo, author of "Cash, Credit and Your Finances: The Teen Years." The book discusses how teens can set a budget, manage their account, making major purchases and working with a bank.
The lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Greenwich High School. For more information, call 800-842-1423.
