Bruce Kicks off National Park Lectures

The Bruce Museum will kick off its 2010-11 Science Lecture Series with a howl. Wolf biologist Dan Stahler will speak on the successful reintroduction of gray wolves to Yellowstone National Park and the western United States. Visitors will learn about the gray wolves' behavior, genetics and the role they play in shaping the ecosystem.

The lecture will discuss the important value of science and society in preserving America's wildlife for future generations. The lectures, titled "Our National Parks, Preserves and Refuges," will be a three-part series that focuses on protecting and honoring the national parks.

The "Yellowstone Wolves: The Restoration of a Wildlife Legacy" is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12. Admission to the lecture is $5 at the door; free to museum members and students with ID. For lecture reservations, call 203-869-0376, Ext. 420.
