As the Blueberry Music and Art House in Greenwich approaches its first anniversary, its director is hoping to showcase more Greenwich artists and musicians in its intimate space.
I think a lot of artists are looking for a place to display their [works], and musicians are looking to perform. Were trying to expand membership so they will be able to have more showcasing opportunities, said Lee. My passion is in performance, so I am looking for more organizations to hold events or benefit concerts here at Blueberry.
Lee, a native of Taiwan, began studying piano and viola at a young age. She came to the U.S. to earn a master of fine arts and artist degree in music performance at SUNY Purchase before opening Blueberry in January.
Artists, art collectives and societies working in all media may submit exhibition proposals to be featured in the gallery. Featured artists are often Greenwich residents, like this months gallery solo exhibition artist, Jeanine C. Jackson of Old Greenwich.
In addition to functioning as an art gallery, Blueberry is also an intimate performance venue for musicians. This month, Lee is offering a Winter Chamber Music concert on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Lee also teaches piano and viola to aspiring musicians at the art house. Were looking for next year, as a teaching studio, to have more piano students, said Lee. Its wonderful to bring the joy of music to their lives.
Blueberry Music and Art House is located at 135 Mason Street, just steps from Greenwich Avenue. The house is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the Winter Chamber Music concert are $30. For more information on events and the Blueberry Music and Art House, call (203) 987-6445.
