'Bears' Musical Booked at Library

A "grrrrrreat" new musical take on the popular Berenstain Bears children's book series is coming to the Greenwich Library on Saturday Nov. 6. Called "Family Matters," the Matt Murphy Production for TheatreWorks USA weaves together three of Stan and Jan Berenstain's most beloved books into a one big bear adventure on family relevant topics.

The musical features story lines from "The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers," "The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food" and "The Berenstain Bears' Trouble at School." When Brother Bear has trouble with a school quiz, he hides it in the cookie jar. Sister Bear makes friends with a frog and hides it in the cookie jar. Papa Bear has been eating candy when he's supposed to be dieting and hides the wrappers in the cookie jar. When the cookie crumbles, it's up to Mama Bear to sort things out.

Presented by the Friends of Greenwich Library, the production will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Cole Auditorium. The show is appropriate for ages 3 to 8. Pick up free assigned seating tickets (limit 6 per person) at the auditorium door starting at noon. Doors open at 1:50 p.m. For more information, contact the Friends office at (203) 622-7938.
