Abilis Walk Scheduled For Sunday In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. –  Abilis' biggest community event of the year – the seventh annual Walk in the Park – is coming up on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Greenwich Point Park. The walk for Abilis raises funds for the nonprofit that serves people of all ages in Greenwich and Stamford with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities. Registration and kid-friendly activities begin at 10:30 a.m. and a one-mile walk, roll or stroll begins at noon.

Greenwich children's author Afton Fraser ("Point to Happy") is honorary chair of the Walk. Stamford journalist Hallie Levine Sklar is Walk chair.

Each walker who raises $50 or more will receive an Abilis T-shirt. Proceeds support Abilis' home-based programs for babies and children with delays in their development, as well as Abilis' residential and employment programs for adults.

Attractions include a bounce castle, costumed characters, face painting and crafts for children, and a DJ and walk-fueling, healthy snacks for all. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase. All-natural soaps and bath salts, candles, dog treats, beaded jewelry, tie-dyed products and other gift-items hand made by adults who are supported by Abilis also will be on sale.

Walk registration is available through www.abilis.us/walk or by telephoning 203-531-1880, ext. 161
