WalletHub graded each state in 28 different metrics that were broken into three key categories:

  • Access To Health Care
  • Nutrition and Physical Activity
  • Oral Health

The Nutmeg State placed fifth in Nutrition and Physical Activity and sixth in Access to Health Care. It's high overall ranking was buoyed by its high percentage of children ages 0-17 who made medical and dental preventive care visits in the last year.

Vermont ranked first overall with Massachusetts coming in second. Neighbor Rhode Island was ranked seventh, while New York placed closer to the middle of the pack at No. 20.
