Rawley's Drive-In, 1886 Post Rd., Fairfield, (203) 259-9023
Frank Talk: "Everything is cooked to order," said Owner Nick Frattaroli. And he means everything -- from the deep-fried Hummel Brothers hot dogs to the hand-cut fries and milkshakes freshly scooped and whirred in the blender. Rawley's hot relish and hot pickles are house made and the most popular dog is The Works with mustard, relish and sauerkraut topped with bacon that's freshly cooked each day. It's no wonder Examiner.com named Rawley's the Best Hot Dog In America.
Top This: Opened around 1946 in a former home built in 1872, Rawley's has been featured on "The View" and TV shows by domestic doyenne Martha Stewart, who was a frequent customer when she lived in Connecticut. Chef Alex Guarnaschelli once raved about the dogs on Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate." Other celebrity sightings include actors Justin Long and Drew Barrymore and John Malkovich, who asked specifically to stop for a bite at Rawley's when he was performing in Fairfield.
