The new location is located in the village of Glenville in Greenwich at 12 Riversville, is the third location in the state for the coveted bagels.
The shop opened on Friday, April 7, following the brand's rapid success in Westport and Redding.
With the tagline “not famous, but known,” PopUp Bagels founder Adam Goldberg has developed a loyal following for his award-winning, cooked-to-order bagels and artisanal cream cheese and has attracted notoriety with celebrity restaurateurs like Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Danny Meyer.
For those not in the know, all PopUp bagels are boiled, seeded, and baked on-site, served along with the ever-changing variety of cream cheese “schmears" and artisan smoked fish.
During the opening over the weekend, store officials said there were lines out the door of people waiting to try the coveted carb.
PopUp Bagels is not a typical bagel shop: bagels are ordered in advance by the dozen only, in order to guarantee hot-out-of-the-oven freshness at a specified pickup time Friday through Sunday mornings with additional mid-week dates to come soon.
“We sell them by the dozen rather than making sandwiches because we want to provide you with the ultimate bagel experience,” he said. “We want you to think about a bag of bagels as a morning activity with friends or family. We like to picture everyone standing around a bag of our bagels on the kitchen counter, making their schmear choices, talking about the previous night out, or what their plans are for the day.”
So why Greenwich? Goldberg said: “Why not! We have had so many devoted fans driving to us from Greenwich, it was our obvious next choice for a location.”
PopUp Bagels will also make its debut as an on-site vendor at this year’s Greenwich Town Party, scheduled for Saturday, May 27.
A dozen bagels, with two artisan schmears, sell for $42. For pop-up locations and orders, please visit popupbagels.com.
