Leading GMO Expert To Be Honored By Greenwich Audubon

GREENWICH, Conn. – Advocates for nongenetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the food supply will converge on the Greenwich Audubon at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 for an evening of education and fundraising.

The evening’s honoree is Jeffrey Smith, an international best-selling author, GMO expert and founder of the Institute for Responsible Technology. Smith has worked in more than 30 countries to improve government policies and change consumer attitudes through education and awareness. At this event, Smith will speak to efforts in the United States to change policies with regard to labeling foods that contain GMOs. Smith will also discuss his upcoming film, “Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives.”

Food will take center stage for the evening, with local, organic offerings from Catch A Healthy Habit, Health in a Hurry, Bakery on Main, Du Soleil, JUST FOOD, Green & Tonic, Double L Market and Nature’s Temptations.

Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased through the Institute for Responsible Technology’s website; all proceeds will benefit the organization.
