GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich resident Desiree Perez won the Miss Connecticut USA crown on Sunday night at the Marriott Hotel in Stamford, according to The Stamford Advocate.

She overcame jaw cancer and reconstructive surgery to compete for the crown, according to the article.
