The campaign appeal notes the center has a "112-year tradition of caring for the elderly in our town when living at home is no longer an option, and providing state-of-the-art short-term rehabilitation for those on the mend."
Even though the year is waning, it's not too late to make a donation, which is tax-deductible. People can donate online or mail checks directly.
"Your contribution goes a long way towards helping each and every one of our residents and rehab patients,” said David Ormsby, chairman of the Friends of Nathaniel Witherell. "The theme of this year's annual appeal is 'Faces of Witherell,' featuring photographs of many of those here at Witherell who will be positively impacted by your generosity."
Donations can pay for a variety of things at the center:
- Transportation for residents to doctors' offices.
- Music therapy programs for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Monthly birthday parties for residents.
- Physical, occupational or speech therapy sessions.
- Flowers for the chapel.
- Equipment for the physical therapy department.
Donations in any amount are welcome.
For people that donate online, a recognition form is immediately e-mailed, for record-keeping purposes. Donations also can be specified as memorials or gifts to others.
