GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich Hospital is partnering with “Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure” charity foundation to raise awareness in the battle against prostate cancer.
The event takes place Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6-7 p.m. at the Greenwich Hospital Noble Conference Center at 5 Perryridge Road.
Randall is the longtime host of the weekly radio program “Ed Randall’s Talking Baseball,” the post-game analyst for the New York Yankees’ commercial telecasts and a prostate cancer survivor. In 2002, he started “Fans for the Cure” to educate the public about prostate cancer prevention, detection and treatment.
The event will include prostate cancer screenings by Greenwich Hospital board-certified urologists William Brown, MD; Alan Schrager, MD; and James Rosoff, MD, at the hospital’s Ambulatory Surgical Outpatient Center, 2nd Floor, Helmsley Medical Building. Screenings will be followed by a live, private presentation of “Talking Baseball,” featuring Randall and a panel of former major leaguers including Willie Upshaw, manager, Bridgeport Bluefish and a former first baseman with the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians; Phil Linz, former infielder for the Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Mets; and Fred Cambria, a former pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The panelists will discuss their careers and the current 2013 MLB season.
