Located in downtown Bedford, the renovated theater will offer a modern take on classic moviegoing. Screening the best in independent, foreign and family films, the theater also plans to be a vibrant community institution. As a result, the playhouse's contributions won't end when the credits roll and the lights come on.
"Presenting great films, both old is new, is just the beginning," said John Farr, president of Bedford Playhouse. "We're planning to feature a wide range of cultural offerings." These include, but are not limited to, the discussion of literature, theatre, music and arts. Speaker series will feature distinguished artists from across the New York metro area and beyond.
Small musical performances, play readings, art exhibits, wine tastings and educational programs for area students will all be included in the newly redesigned playhouse schedule of events. "The idea is to get maximum use and value out of the playhouse, day and night," said Farr.
The Bedford Playhouse is currently seeking the public's support to raise the remaining $100,000 in order to begin construction. To learn more or to donate, click here.
