Connecticut State Police are asking for any witnesses to a double-fatal three-vehicle crash on I-95 in Connecticut.
The collision occurred in the town of Fairfield around 12:10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 26 just before Exit 22.
According to Connecticut State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed a tractor-trailer and two cars were traveling on I-95 northbound when the second vehicle identified as a 2018 Chevy Impala traveling in the center lane of three, for an unknown reason spun out, entered the median and collided with the concrete jersey barrier.
After the impact, the Impala became disabled in the center lane. The third vehicle, a 2023 BMW 300 was traveling in the center lane and collided with the Impala, state police said.
Due to the impact, the Impala's driver was ejected onto the roadway.
State Police said the tractor-trailer then collided with the Impala, entered the median, and collided with the concrete jersey barrier.
The driver, identified as Pennsylvania resident Fred Nimmon, age 70, of Aspers in Adams County, was ejected into the median of I-95 southbound, police said.
Nimmon and the Impla's driver, William Foster, age 75, of Bridgeport, were pronounced deceased at the collision scene.
The BMW driver was transported to Bridgeport Hospital by American Medical Response for minor injuries.
All the vehicles were towed from the scene by Sport Hill Towing.
The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad was requested and responded to the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
This case remains under investigation.

Interstate 95 has reopened in Fairfield County after being closed for several hours due to a serious injuries crash between a tractor-trailer and a vehicle.
According to Connecticut State Police, the crash took place on northbound I-95 in Fairfield near Exit 22 around 12:10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 26.
State Police said preliminary reports indicate serious injuries were sustained, but did not have information of how many people were injured.
The State Police crash reconstruction unit was called to the scene to assist in the investigation along with Department of Transportation officials, state police said.
The roadway has since reopened and traffic is flowing smoothly.
