What's Happening Around Greenwich This Weekend

GREENWICH, Conn. — A church fair in Stamford, the final race in one of the region's summer running series, and the opening match of the polo season are some of the events happening in and around Greenwich this Labor Day weekend. Check our events page or see below for more listings: 

Friday, Aug. 31

St. Leo Fair: 6 to 11 p.m. Rides, bingo and raffle. St. Leo Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford.

Saturday, Sept. 1

Westport Road Runners Summer Series: 8 a.m. 10-mile races concludes summer race series. Staples High School, 70 North Ave., Westport.

AARP Safe Driving Course: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn the rules of the road and how to operate your vehicle safely, and adjust to common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. Greenwich Hospital, 5 Perryridge Road. 

Weekend Lunch Bunch: Noon to 2 p.m. Four-course meal for Greenwich residents older than 55. Greenwich Hospital, Nutmeg Grill Cafeteria, 5 Perryridge Road. Takes place same time on Sunday. 

Sunday, Sept. 2

Sunday Bird Walk at Greenwich Point: 9 a.m. Bring binoculars. Meet at second concession stand park. For information, call 203-413-6756.

Lobsters: More Than Just Dinner: 1:30 to 4 p.m. Local lobstermen and naturalist will talk about the state of the lobster in Long Island Sound. There will be a touch tank and crafts. Greenwich Point Park. Free with park permit. 

Royal Salute Jubilee Cup: 3:30 p.m. Opening match of the fall season. Greenwich Polo Club, 1 Hurlingham Drive, Greenwich.

Note: Greenwich's libraries are closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend.
