Monday, Sept. 3

5K Run/Walk Family Fun Day: Benefits preschool program for kids with special needs. 9 to 11:30 a.m. Stamford Jewish Community Center, 1035 Newfield Ave.

Tuesday, Sept. 4

Sit'n Stitch Knitting/Crocheting Group: 1 to 3 p.m. Knitters of all levels welcome to work on their own or group projects. Experts will assist beginners. Cos Cob Library, 5 Sinawoy Road, Greenwich.

Greenwich Hospital Cooking Class: 6 p.m. Learn how to prepare "ancient grains" that are regaining popularity. Registration required. Weight Loss & Diabetes Center, 55 Holly Hill Lane, Greenwich.

Wednesday, Sept. 5

R.E.A.D. to a Dog: 3 to 4 p.m. Trained dogs and their owners visit library so kids can practice reading. Byram Shubert Library, 21 Mead Ave., Greenwich. 

Teens4Teens: 4 to 5 p.m. Students in grades 9-12 work on community service projects. Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave. 

Thursday, Sept. 6

Greenwich Board of Selectmen: 10 a.m. Meeting. Greenwich Town Hall 101 Field Point Road. 

Drop-In Computer Lab: 3 to 4 p.m. Get help with Microsoft Windows, Internet searches, audiobooks and more. Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave. 

Tween Program - Hip Hop Dance: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Kids ages 8 to 12 learn hip hop, followed by a piece of cake. Byram Shubert Library, 21 Mead Ave., Greenwich.

Flinn Gallery Exhibit Opening: 6 to 8 p.m. Reception for new exhibit, "Water, Water Everywhere," which runs through Oct. 18. Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave.

Quantitative Risk Management: 7 to 8:45 p.m. Author Tom Coleman discusses his new book, "Quantitative Risk Management: A Practical Guide to Financial Risk." Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave.
