The grant will allow the Haven String Quartet of New Haven to lead a master class and perform a free family concert at the Greenwich Library.
The alliance is delivering this program in partnership with the Greenwich Arts Council’s Curiosity Concerts, Music Haven, Greenwich Library and Connecticut School of Music. All of the organizations are contributing to the program’s budget.
The following classes will be at the Greenwich Arts Council Meeting Room, 299 Greenwich Ave., 2nd Floor:
- Master Class: 4-7 p.m., Monday.
- Recital: 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7; students perform with the Haven String Quartet at Greenwich Library’s Cole Auditorium, 101 W. Putnam Ave.
- Family Concert: 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7.
Participating students will gain insights into the life of a working musician and the skills and strategies that contribute to collaborative playing. Some students will share a solo piece they have been working on and get fresh feedback on how to make their instruments “sing.”
The Greenwich Alliance for Education provides free private and semi-private instrumental music lessons for students in grades 4-12 who could not otherwise afford music lessons. For more information at see the alliance’s website.
