Greenwich Youths Serve Community At Teens4Teens

GREENWICH, Conn. - High school students are invited to the Greenwich Library on Aug. 1 to participate in Teens4Teens, a community service event intended to generate project ideas relevant to local youths.

Teens are responsible for initiating and developing ideas relevant to their age group in exchange for community service hours, according to the Greenwich Library students volunteer page. Program suggestions include author talks, concerts, film and video festivals, book clubs and tutoring.

"Last month when we started Teens4Teens, we had a very successful SAT practice program with about 17 kids,"  said Ed Morrissey, Teens4Teens program presenter. "We were getting calls from parents all the time asking when we were going to do that again."

Meetings are scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month from 4 to 5 p.m. under the guidance of library staff members. Morrissey said that he's looking to have meetings more often, and to get between 5 to 10 students to participate at varying ages.
