Dan Marcy will give a presentation entitled “Building the New New York Bridge Over The Tappan Zee.” The replacement for the aging Tappan Zee Bridge is an immense and costly project that will shape traffic patterns, commuting delays and aesthetics over the Hudson River for decades. It will have a dual-span design, which will be the widest in the world. Construction, which is already underway, will take about five years.
The $4 billion highway bridge project is the largest in North America.
This presentation will give a project overview, the impacts on the region, the current timeline of the project, what has been done so far, what are the environmental aspects and mitigation efforts, what’s happening now and what you will see in the future.
Marcy has been a member of the New New York Bridge Project’s outreach team since 2012. In that time, the outreach team has held more than 700 meetings with residents, community groups, business associations, elected officials and other stakeholders.
Before the New New York Bridge project, Marcy was a project manager at Empire State Development. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University.
