Greenwich Police Announce Women's Self-Defense Classes

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Police Department is accepting applications for the 2016 spring women’s self-defense class.

The five-week program is open to female applicants between the ages of 18-55. The class meets twice a week from 7:45-9:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. This time slot is limited to 20 students. The class begins May 10 and graduation is tentatively scheduled for June 9. 

Additionally, the Greenwich Police Department is accepting applications for the 2016 spring girls' high school self-defense class. The five-week program is only open to Greenwich High School students in the 11th or 12th grades. The class meets twice a week from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. This time slot is limited to 20 students. 

The classes enable participants to learn proven techniques that will both bolster their confidence in self-defense situations and overcome physical/psychological situations. 

Applications are available at this website. Completed applications, along with a photocopy of identification and check for $35 made payable to the Silver Shield Association, may be returned to the front desk at police headquarters to the attention of the community impact office.
