Golf Tournament For Witherell In Greenwich Features Former Sports Stars

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Participants in the Eighth Annual Witherell Invitational Golf Tournament, which benefits The Nathaniel Witherell Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, will have the chance to golf with celebrities.

The tournament, organized by the Friends of Nathaniel Witherell, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course in Greenwich 

Participating golfers and area sports celebrities include former heavyweight boxing contender Gerry Cooney, former New York Giants wide receiver Don Herrmann, U.S. Olympic Women's Hockey Team gold medalist Sue Merz, and former Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Willie Upshaw.

Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting critical programs and services for Witherell residents. Golfers will enjoy lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf. The event will conclude with a reception and dinner, complete with a silent auction and awards presentation.

The fee is $960 for a golf foursome, $250 for individual golfers, or $75 for dinner tickets. Golf Hole Sponsorships are $200. Check-In will be at noon followed by tee times at 1:30 p.m. and the awards dinner at 5:30 p.m.
