Byram Gears Up For Sidewalk Sales Days

GREENWICH, Conn. – Shoppers will get another chance to snag great deals and enjoy free parking when Byram hosts its second annual Sidewalk Sales Days this weekend.

From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from July 19 to 21, customers can head to Mill Street where a collection of small businesses will have jewelry, coffee, gifts and more on sale.

Parking in Byram's three municipal lots will be free, as will spots lining Mill Street.

"We're all mom-and-pop businesses and we know what our customers like," said Cynthia Hahn, owner of Cynthia's at 219 Mill St.

Cynthia's will be offering 50 percent off all hand bags, 10 to 75 percent off costume jewelry, and 50 to 75 percent off gloves and scarves. Hahn said that Cynthia's is the only store on Mill Street that has sterling silver.

Christina Pincus and Jenny Rye own Mill Street Home, an accessory shop at 227 Mill St. Pincus said Byram's Sidewalk Sales Days have been getting more buzz every year, attracting customers from as far away as Nyack, N.Y., and northern Fairfield County. She said her store's custom pillows, lamps and prints sell the best during the event.

"Home accessories are a great way to change your home in this economy," Pincus said. "It's like jewelry for your home."

For those who want to want a preview of the sales, a few shops will be open late Wednesday night, Eco Java Coffee employee Lady Ladino said.
