And now, they've expanded their line to include bath and body care for horseback riders, as well as equestrian-themed sterling silver jewelry including antique and vintage pieces.
The Riverside-based team -- Anne is the one behind the jewelry while Tara, the company's founder, is the force behind the small-batch natural grooming, bath and body care products for horse and rider -- have created their business from a combined compassion and love for horses.
Which is why Tara has made it a part of the company's mission to reach out to local not-for-profits working with horses to see if her products could benefit their horses and, in turn, their programs.
After contacting different therapeutic riding centers and equine adoption rescues in the area, she is now working with Pegasus Therapeutic Riding in Brewster, N.Y, and Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship in Mount Kisco.
In other words, the Darien resident is donating her line of equine grooming products to both facilities. Pegasus, in fact, has a "circle of life" kind of story attached to it.
"I remember my godparents donating two ponies to Pegasus over 20 years ago and so I feel incredibly lucky that I'm able to give back to such a great local non-profit and help make a difference in the community," she said.
The horses at both facilities are incredible, she added. "The way in which they help the program participants is almost hard to believe. Each step they take is thoughtful and careful, and you can see the concentration on each horse or pony's face.
"They have a serious job to do and they know it. These horses deserve nothing but the best and I am very excited to share my products with them.”
Each organization requests different products based on the needs of the horses and the time of year. At Pegasus, they're a big fan of the Protective Pink Nose Formula which keeps sunburns at bay, while, at Endeavor, Harrison Ford -- the horse, not the actor -- loves the Healing Calendula Salve when he gets a tick bite.
The Soothing Chickweed Cream is another favorite among the horses (and staff).
Tara admits it's her passion that drives her to always do better. “If my products are not helping horses, then I'm not satisfied. Whether for a customer or a donated product, the horse or rider must be getting a benefit.”
