Georgopulo owns Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich and knows the importance of community, commerce and providing relevant information and top-notch service to consumers. To fill the void, she is presenting an app called GreenwichVIP.com.
"What iTunes did for listeners and music, GreenwichVIP.com does for consumers and merchants,'' Georgopulo said. "With one click consumers will have the entire town at their fingertips, categorized for ease of use.
Georgopulo said consumers will be able to browse all the shops and their websites, take a tour if they have Google 360view, explore restaurants and their menus, which will be tied to OpenTable for ease of reservations, browse events with the ability to purchase tickets, and see all offers, deals and rewards. People will also have the ability to read reviews from all of the reporting agencies, such as Yelp and Foursquare, thereby affording the merchants an opportunity to better serve patrons.
Georgopulo also said that once consumer are signed in, they will also be able to write reviews on their experiences. The app platform has been successfully launched in customized handpicked communities along the Eastern Seaboard with plans for further distribution.
"GreenwichVIP.com turns commerce into community," Georgopulo said and sees the new technology as a huge benefit to all Greenwich businesses and their patrons.
The website and app will make their debut during the Reindeer Festival and Holiday Stroll on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7. GreenwichVIP.com is sponsoring the carriage ride up and down Greenwich Avenue.
The Reindeer Festival and Holiday Stroll has over 110 participating merchants in the downtown area, from Simon Pearce to Ralph Lauren to McArdle's, each offering a special attraction in its store. Children can write letters to Santa with 16 special Santa Mailboxes located at 21 stores throughout town, including a commemorative box at the historic post office, now Restoration Hardware.
A new addition to the event this year is a live Nativity scene that will feature a camel, llama, cow, donkey and five sheep along with the story of Christ's birth performed by area churches.
A live holiday music tent, sponsored by Greenwich Hospital, in front of Bank of America, will feature performances by 12 groups over the two days. The stroll will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Check out the event website for more information.
