GREENWICH, Conn. - Upscale supermarket chain Kings Food Markets will open its first Connecticut store in Old Greenwich, the company announced Monday.
The company, which has 24 stores in New Jersey and New York, has acquired the site of Porricellis Market at 26 Arcadia Road in Old Greenwich.
We have been proud to serve three generations of shoppers throughout our 63-year history in Old Greenwich, Jerry Porricelli Jr., of Porricellis Market, said in a statement. Our store is a family-run operation, and we view our customers as an extension of our family. For this reason it was crucial to choose a company that will continue the unique legacy that weve established."
The 12,000-square-foot store should open in September. Kings Food Markets touts gourmet and hard-to-find products at its stores in north and central New Jersey and Long Island. The supermarket will also have hand-rolled sushi, hot foods, seafood, a bakery and deli.
"Our goal is for customers to discover those moments in our stores where inspiration strikes, whether its finally finding a rare ingredient, creating a delicious menu using recipes from Kings chefs, or knowing they can rely on pairing suggestions and preparation tips from our associates," Judy Spires, president and CEO of Kings Food Markets, said in a statement.
The store will be staffed with Porricelli's existing sales associates, but it also will be hiring for full- and part-time positions. Those interested in applying can email the company at jobpostings@kingssm.com.
