Whether he is seemingly appearing out of thin air at the moment someone needs help or delivering meal trays with a white towel folded over his arm for a patient, the stories of his selfless acts of kindness are heartwarming, Greenwich Hospital said in a statement.
One event in particular prompted this recognition. Lamichhane had a patient who had dementia and often had trouble getting comfortable. It was from this patient’s room that the staff began to hear Lamichhane singing. His soothing, mild voice calmed the patient and made her more comfortable.
Another patient also overheard, saying to her family, "Listen, he will sing to the patient when she eats." Soon, Lamichhane had more of an audience than he realized. The family and other patients waited to hear him; they, too, loved to hear him sing.
“I would like everyone to know about one of our newer team members, Bal. He is a nursing assistant and works every weekend and various evening shifts," staff members said.
"He is a complete pleasure to work with! Both staff and patients comment on how wonderful he is. It is not unusual every day to hear a story, observation, or a positive comment about Bal."
