MakerBot is a global leader in the desktop 3D printing industry. Lawton was previously the chief strategy officer and has been with the company since 2011.
“Jenny is a huge asset to MakerBot,” MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis said in a statement. “She’s my right-hand. Without Jenny we wouldn’t be where we are today. She has helped lead us to the next exciting phase for MakerBot. And she is building an infrastructure that helps the team innovate, invent and improve on a daily basis.”
Lawton's promotion to president is in conjunction with the acquisition announcement by MakerBot and Stratasys that took place June 19.
Lawton has a long history with transforming entrepreneurial startups into viable technology companies. In 1991, Lawton co-founded Net Daemons Associates (NDA), an information technology consulting firm. With Lawton as CEO, NDA was recognized on the 1998 Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing privately held U.S. companies, and on the Deloitte and Touche Fast 50 and Fast 500 lists for 1997 and 1998.
Lawton is also on the Board of Directors at the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. She holds her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics from Union College.
