Judy Spires, president and chief executive officer of Balducci's, said the newly expanded market will be a place that customers will be "thrilled" to shop.
"A customer is going to be thrilled to death with what they find there," Spires said about the expanded range of gourmet offerings in the store.
On hand for the cutting of the very long loaf of bread in place of a ribbon on Friday, Dec. 6, was First Selectman Peter Tesei, who praised the company in his remarks.
Spires said the store boasts a new mezze and olive bar that offers a wide variety of Mediterranean food as well as an expanded selection of cheese and organic produce.
Balducci's also offers the best and freshest selection of seafood, even paying a better price to fishermen for the last caught and therefore the freshest fish, she said.
"We pay a premium for the restaurant quality seafood that is last caught," she said.
One obvious new addition to customers who haven't stopped at the market in a while is the Fine Wine & Spirits Store, which offers beer, wine and spirits.
The company said the expanded Balducci's will continue to be an integral part of Greenwich.
"We're just so proud to share our passion for food with the Greenwich community," said Chief Operating Officer Rich Durante. "We just feel that this store now represents this community in a first class way that this community deserves."
