Wind Gusts, Rain To Hit Fairfield Wednesday

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Fairfield County Wednesday.

The rain that hit downtown Fairfield Tuesday is expected to continue Wednesday and Thursday.

There is the potential for isolated damaging wind gusts late Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning with showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of a cold front. 

Localized flooding is also possible in areas of poor drainage and for those faster responding streams and small rivers.

Rain will continue Wednesday after morning sprinkles with areas of fog and temperatures near 49 degrees. 

Wednesday night will bring showers and possibly a thunderstorm, with more fog and temperature rising to around 56 degrees by 1a.m.

The wind will pickup in the overnight hours when new rainfall will accumulate three-quarters to one-inch of water. 

There is slight chance of showers under cloudy skies Thursday, with temperatures falling to around 47 degrees and winds continue to be brisk.

Showers will continue into Thursday night before 2 a.m. It will be cloudy with freezing temperatures dropping to around 31 degrees, though the wind chill values will make the air feel much colder. Southwest winds will be around 15 miles per hour.

It will be mostly cloudy Friday, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 36 degrees. The wind will continue to be brisk, from 14 to 17 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 28 miles per hour.

Friday night will be a clear one, with colder temperatures as low as 20 degrees.

The sun will be out again Saturday, but weather remains cold, though above freezing, reaching as high as 38 degrees..
