Snow, Rain And Sleet To Hit Fairfield Tuesday

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of Fairfield County Tuesday as a wintry mix is on its way with snow starting mainly after 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday's temperature will be near 40 degrees but the wind chill value will make it seem below freezing at times. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent with expected snow accumulations of less than an inch possible.

Rain and snow will fall Tuesday night, then change over to rain and sleet after 9 p.m., then to all rain after 3 a.m. Wednesday. New snow and sleet accumulations could be less than an inch.

The National Weather Service is advising that the snow and rain will impact roads, especially elevated and untreated surfaces, which will become slippery, making travel hazardous. This wintry mix will impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

Rain will continue Wednesday when the air heats up to about 45 degrees, though wind chill values will remain between 25 and 35 degrees. Wednesday's chance of precipitation is 90 percent with new water amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Rain and possibly a thunderstorm will occur Wednesday night producing heavy rainfall with precipitation amounts of between three quarters and one inch possible.

Rain will continue into Thursday morning, then there will be a chance of showers in the afternoon under cloudy skies, with the mercury climbing to around 52 degrees.

A chance of rain showers plagues Thursday night, then rain and snow showers are possible after midnight.

It will be partly sunny on Friday with temperatures above freezing at round 37 degrees.
