Showers Hit Fairfield Thursday, Snow Likely This Weekend

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Yes, it's true. Thursday's showers will likely turn to snow in Fairfield County this weekend. 

The spring flowers will be covered with snow again on Saturday when a cold front moves through the area bringing with it more than an inch of snow.

A cold front swirling down from Canada will bring showers Thursday through Friday morning and then another front blows in to bring snow to the area mainly after 2 p.m. Saturday. So grab a good book, or plan on binge watching some TV and snuggle in until Sunday when sunny skies return. 

  • Thursday: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 55. South wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
  • Thursday night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 39. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
  • Friday: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. West wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
  • Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. West wind 3 to 8 mph.
  • Saturday: Snow likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Saturday night: Snow likely, mainly before 8pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 42.
  • Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
