Fog Will Give Way To Thunderstorms In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Patches of dense fog will greet early risers in Fairfield County on Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service warns.

The fog will decrease visibility to 1 to 3 miles in many places but to less than a quarter of a mile in others, the NWS said. Drivers are urged to be cautious and to be on the lookout for changes in visibility. Reduce speed and use low-beam headlights.

As the fog burns off, the day will remain cloudy and wet. Thunderstorms are likely to develop Wednesday afternoon with a slight risk of severe thunderstorms, the weather service said.

The biggest risk will come between 2 and 6 p.m. Damaging winds and hail are possible, the weather service said. Heavy rainfall with urban and small stream flooding could also occur.
