Fairfield Will See Midweek Temperature Plunge; Snow, Sleet Possible

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Falling temperatures and the possibility of frozen precipitation in the middle of the week will remind Fairfield County residents that winter hasn't left the area for good quite yet, the National Weather Service said.

Rain could change over to sleet on Tuesday night as temperatures dip below freezing.

Monday will remain partly sunny with a high temperature of 65 degrees, appropriate for an April spring day.

But showers will roll into the area early on Tuesday, with rain becoming heavy at times during the day. The chance of precipitation is near 100 percent, the weather service said.

Temperatures could dip below freezing by Tuesday night, creating periods of sleet and snow. Winds will remain blustery with gusts as high as 36 mph.

The sun will return Wednesday, but winds will remain strong out of the northwest at 17 to 23 mph. Temperatures will only climb into the high 40s.

Temperatures will struggle to rebound through the end of the week with highs in the high 40s to low 50s.
