Jorge Ruiz, age 46, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 16 for multiple armed robberies that occurred in Bridgeport. He was also wanted for armed robberies in Stratford and Naugatuck. At the time of his arrest, Ruiz had an outstanding warrant for an armed robbery that occurred at Sergio’s Pizza located in Bridgeport at 780 Madison Ave., on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in which he was armed with a Mac 10/Uzi-type firearm, said Capt. The incident took place in Bridgeport around 2:20 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6 in the 900 block of William Street. Bridgeport Police responded to the area after receiving a ShotSpotter notification of shots fired, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport. Man, 75, Critically Injured In Early Morning Bridgeport Stabbing A 75-year-old man is in critical condition after an early morning stabbing in Bridgeport, police said. It happened at about 5:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 in the 500 block of William Street, Bridgeport Police said. When officers arrived, they found the victim, Ernesto Esquilin covered in blood at his residence.  Medics transported him to Bridgeport Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, police said. Suspect On Loose After Man Shot In Bridgeport A suspect is on the loose after a man was shot overnight in Bridgeport. Shots were fired at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 9 in the area of 789/791 William St., where the victim was struck by gunfire,  Bridgeport Police said. The victim fled on foot to Putnam Street where he was found by responding officers, according to police. The man sustained a wound to his neck and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.
