New Canaan School Earns National Blue Ribbon Distinction
An elementary school in Fairfield County was among just five schools from the state named National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2018 by the U.S. Department of Education. The West School in New Canaan earned the honor. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program award recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap. NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Superintendent of Schools Bryan Luizzi is offering reassurances and guidance to parents after a 10-year-old boy from New Canaan died suddenly over the weekend. Nico Mallozzi died Sunday after he became ill at a hockey tournament in Buffalo, N.Y. Nico Mallozzi, 10, died Sunday after he became ill at a hockey tournament in Buffalo, N.Y., according to multiple reports.
