Danbury Water Main Break Closes Wcsu Campuses Western Connecticut State University in Fairfield County has closed for the day because of a water main break. The break took place in Danbury on the Westside early Friday, Jan. 19.  According to college officials, both WestConn campuses -- Midtown on White Street and Westside off Lake Avenue Extension -- are closed.  Level 1 staff (essential workers) are required to report at their normal work times. The incident took place in Stamford around 3:45 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21 when the city's 911 dispatch center received reports of a water main break in the vicinity of Hollow Oak Lane and Bel Aire Dr., said Stamford Deputy Fire Chief Tom Gloersen. Water Main Break Causes School Closure In Connecticut Students and staff at one Connecticut school are getting the day off due to a water main break. Located in Middlesex County, Cromwell Middle School will be closed all day on Wednesday, Nov. 2 due to the water main break, said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Enza Marci. All other schools in the district will be open as usual.  Parents will be notified if there is any issue fixing the break and the return to school on Thursday, Nov. 3 is delayed, district officials said.
