A Fairfield County hotel is for sale by auction with a starting bid of $4 million only a few years after its owners foreclosed on the property.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Norwalk, located at 789 Connecticut Ave. in Norwalk, is set to be sold in an auction held from Monday, April 3 to Wednesday, April 5, according to the property listing.
The 265-room hotel boasts eight floors, 136,807 square feet, and clear visibility and access from Interstate 95.

Fairfield County's Peter Buck, Subway Co-Founder, Dies At Danbury Hospital
Fairfield County's Peter Buck, who became a billionaire after making a small investment in the sandwich shop that later became Subway, has died.
Buck, a longtime Danbury resident, died Thursday, Nov. 18, at Danbury Hospital, the company announced. A cause of death was not released. He was 90 years old.
In a statement by Subway CEO John Chidse, he praised Buck for his hands-on leadership style.

A former principal in Ridgefield and Norwalk has died.
Douglas John Smith, of Danbury, died Sunday, June 2 at age 87. He was the husband of Patricia (Gainer) Smith.
A resident of Danbury for the past 19 years, Smith was born in Norwalk on March 14, 1932, son of the late Capt. John and Amy (Selleck) Smith.
He was a graduate of Fairfield Prep, class of 1950, Fairfield University, 1954 and University of Bridgeport, 6th-year degree.
He taught elementary schools, was principal of Jefferson School, and opened Naramake School, all in Norwalk.

Airman Who Grew Up In Fairfield County Killed In Crash
A U.S. Airman from Bridgeport who died in a multiple-vehicle crash in Idaho will be remembered Sunday, July 1.
Lawrence Manlapit III, 29, the son of Lawrence Manlapit, Jr. and Dorine Norko, who is a transportation specialist for the Bridgeport public schools, was killed June 16 in a multi-vehicle crash on I-84 outside of Boise, Idaho, said the Idaho State Police.
Two other airmen and a truck driver were also killed in the crash, police said.
