Mouse Droppings, Roaches Cause 4 Fairfield Eateries To Close In May
Pests were a problem for four Fairfield County restaurants that closed temporarily after health inspectors found evidence of unwanted critters, or in one case, the critter itself.
In the Town of Fairfield, a sandwich shop, a pizzeria, and two American restaurants, all voluntarily closed in May after being found to have evidence of mice, according to the town's Health Department inspection documents.

Storm Knocks Out Power In Fairfield County
A powerful, fast-moving storm with damaging wind gusts has knocked out power to thousands in Connecticut.
At around 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, Eversource is reporting close to 3,000 outages.
The most affected areas are Guilford in New Haven County (496 outages), Stonington in New London County (387), Stamford in Fairfield County (205), Essex in Middlesex County (194), Washington in Litchfield County (164), and Madison in New Haven County (144).

Thousands in Connecticut are without power following the round of storms that rolled through the region, though the damage was not as bad as expected.
As late Monday morning, Aug. 23, more than 8,000 of Eversource’s 1.28 million customers in the state are reporting outages.
United Illuminating is working to repair seven active outages impacting more than 1,100 of the company’s customers.

Woman Killed In Chain-Reaction Crash On I-95 In Fairfield County
A woman was killed and another person hospitalized after a multi-vehicle, chain-reaction crash near the border of Westchester and Fairfield counties on I-95.
It happened around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, July 3 in Greenwich.
A man identified as Atif Mitchell, age 43, of Waterbury, was driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz when it crashed into a car in front of him, a 2018 Audi, causing the Audi to slam into a parked tractor-trailer, Connecticut State Police said.
