CT Man Struck By Lightning As Severe Storms Roared Through Region A 34-year-old Connecticut man was struck by lightning as several severe thunderstorms ripped through the area. The incident occurred in New London County around 6:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, on Orchard Farms Road in Colchester. According to Colchester Fire Chief Steve Hoffmann, crews responded to the home and found the man "conscious and alert" but suffering from chest pains. He was rushed to the hospital in Colchester, but Hoffmann did not know his condition. This is a developing story. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Tristate Twister: Tornado With 100 MPH Winds Travels Through CT, 2 Other States A survey conducted by the National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado caused damage across three states during a severe thunderstorm including in Connecticut. The tornado touched down Wednesday, Sept. 13 in Windham County in Killingly. It then traveled over the towns of Foster, Glocester, and Lincoln in Providence County, Rhode Island, and then finally, into North Attleboro, Massachusetts, in Bristol County. Lightning Eyed As Cause In Norwalk Commercial Building Fire A fire broke out at a commercial building when a severe thunderstorm possibly caused a shed to catch fire in Norwalk. The blaze began in the basement of a two-story building at 20 Broad Street, at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, July 18, the Norwalk Fire Department said. Responders quickly extinguished fire, but a moderate smoke condition filled the building that houses several businesses, according to the fire department.
