A drug bust turned harrowing for Stamford Police Department officers when a man they were attempting to arrest opened fire while sitting in his vehicle, police said.
The incident took place around 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, when officers from the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit were investigating a reported delivery of fentanyl and other drugs to Stamford, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.

Man Charged In Violent Assaults Of Mother Of His Son In Stamford
An undocumented Haitian man is behind bars for several brutal assaults on his girlfriend after she attempted to break up with him.
Waking Noel, 34, of Seaton Road, Stamford, is being held in lieu of a $100,000 after he was charged with assaulting the mother of his two-year-old child in February, said Sgt. Jennifer Lynch.
"He punched, kicked, hit and seriously injured the woman on two occasions," Lynch said.
The woman, who attempted to break-up with Noel in February, reported the first attack to police on Feb. 22 when he pushed her and took her cellphone, police said.
