Smile, You're On Body Camera: TJ Maxx To Equip Employees To Fight Shoplifting
To fight the recent rise in shoplifting and retail theft, shoppers could see store security employees wearing body-worn cameras to help catch thieves red-handed.
TJX, the parent company of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Serria, HomeSense, and HomeGoods, said will begin equipping some employees with body-worn cameras similar to those worn by police, the Boston Globe reported. The company started testing the initiative last year.
The company operates nearly 3,400 stores nationwide.

Lego maniacs rejoice -- a new store opening in Fairfield County specializes in buying, selling, and trading new and used Lego sets, bricks, and minifigures.
The store, Bricks & Minifigs (BAM) in Fairfield at 1929 Black Rock Turnpike, is the first store for local Fairfield residents David and Lindsay Orr and is set to open on Saturday, June 8.
In addition to thousands of bricks and sets, BAM will also provide an event space for birthday parties or special Lego-themed events such as after-school clubs, social events, Brick Derby races, and more.

Sam Ash To Close All Locations, Including CT Store, After 100 Years In Business
The largest family-owned chain of musical instrument stores in the nation has announced it will be closing all its locations.
Sam Ash Music was founded in 1924, has locations in more than a dozen states, and is headquartered on Long Island, in Hicksville.
It currently has 27 stores, including five in New York (White Plains, Carle Place, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Forest Hills), two in New Jersey (in Springfield and Cherry Hill), two in Pennsylvania (in Philadelphia and King of Prussia), one in Connecticut (in New Haven), and one in Virginia (in Richmond).

Stamford ShopRite Renovates, Expands Services
Big changes are coming to a Fairfield County ShopRite that is undergoing a renovation.
The privately owned grocery chain announced on Thursday, March 14, that the renovation of its Commerce Street ShopRite, located at 1990 W. Main St. in Stamford, is well underway.
The Commerce Street store renovation will feature a new exterior façade and interior decor enhancements, as well as completely reimagined floral, produce, prepared foods, seafood, meat, dairy, and frozen departments.
Company officials said it will also include space for a dedicated beer and craft brew section.
