A public health alert has been issued for Perdue’s frozen ready-to-eat chicken breast tenders that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically small pieces of clear plastic and blue dye, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Perdue announced that it is recalling 495 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The FSIS announced that Tyson Foods has recalled approximately 36,420 pounds of chicken nugget products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically rubber. Perdue has announced a second recall of thousands of pounds of a popular chicken nugget product due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services announced on Monday that Perdue is recalling 12-ounce packages of “PERDUE Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets” with a “use by” date of “March 11, 2019.” The recalled products have lot codes 17009010 – 19009010.
