Man's Body Found In Wooded Area At CT State Park
This story has been updated. A man's body was in a wooded area at a Connecticut state park. The incident took place in Litchfield County around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Stillwater Pond State Park in Torrington, according to Paul Copleman, spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. According to Copleman, the man is 35 years old. "There is no threat to the public," he said. "We are grateful for the assistance of the Torrington Police Department." Man Found Unresponsive In Water At CT State Park Dies
A 78-year-old man who was found unresponsive in the water at a Connecticut state park later died. The incident took place in New London County around 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6 at Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme. Officials with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the park of a man found in the water at the park, said Paul Copleman, a spokesman for DEEP. Bobcat Attacks Man Sleeping In Hammock At CT State Park
A bobcat attacked an adult camper at a Connecticut state park. The attack took place during the early morning hours of Friday, June 30 in New London County at Selden Neck Island in Selden Neck State Park in Lyme. Bear Escapes Capture After Breaking Into Garage Looking For Grill At CT Home
A black bear managed to "let itself out" of a garage and escape after breaking in in search of a grill that had been used earlier in the day. The incident took place in Hartford County at a home on Walnut Hill Road in Hartland on Sunday, May 21. A second moose has been hit and killed in Connecticut by a vehicle on the same day. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) says the moose was killed in Hartford County around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, in Hartland on Route 179. Moose Struck, Killed By Car On CT Highway
Days after state officials put out warning for drivers to be on the lookout for moose along the state's highways, one was hit and killed by a vehicle. The incident took place in New Haven County around 6:50 a.m., Wednesday, May 17 in North Haven on northbound Route 15 -- known as the Wilbur Cross Parkway -- near exit 63, said the Connecticut State Police. Number Of Bears Breaking Into CT Homes Rises Amid New Concerns After Attack On Boy
State wildlife officials are urging residents to take care when it comes to black bears with more home entries on the rise and on the heels of the attack of a 10-year-old boy. So far this year, there have been 65 entries into homes -- the highest since 2004 -- with damage done to 286 structures, including homes, said officials with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Officials Investigating Cause Of Death For Woman Found At CT State Park
State officials are investigating the cause of death of a woman found dead in a Connecticut pond. The 76-year-old Litchfield County woman was located on Thursday, Aug. 25 in Torrington, near land surrounding Burr Pond. The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was found by first responders who located the body just off the shoreline at the state park, said Paul Copleman, media relations manager for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
