Gold Star Father ID'd As Victim In Fatal Western Mass Crash
The Massachusetts father of a soldier killed in Afghanistan died earlier this week after being hit by a car while on his way to deliver an award in his son's honor, his family said. Michael Demarsico, 63, of North Adams in Berkshire County, was crossing Route 8 to go to the Bounti-Fare restaurant in Adams on Sunday, Nov. 17, just after 5 p.m. when a car struck him, authorities said. Mass. Hammer Murderer Gets Life In Prison For Killing Sleeping Wife: DA
A Massachusetts man who beat his estranged wife to death with a hammer as she slept will spend at least the next 25 years in prison, authorities said. Michael A. Cook Sr., of North Adams in Berkshire Country, was convicted of second-degree murder last week and was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, Oct. 10, the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office said. A New York educator who attended college in New England is ready to fight to win on season 41 of "Survivor," which is set to air this month on CBS. State Police To Escort Body Of Slain Capitol Police Officer To Western Massachusetts For Burial
State Police from Massachusetts and Connecticut will escort the body of U.S. Capitol Police Officer William Evans, a Western Massachusetts native, after the flight carrying his remains arrives at Bradley International Airport. The police officer killed in a car attack at the United States Capitol was a native of Western Massachusetts who was a high school athlete. Berkshire County native William "Billy" Evans, who grew up in North Adams and neighboring Clarksburg, graduated from Western New England University.
