Know Them? Search On For Suspects In Stamford Liquor Store Burglary
Police in Fairfield County are asking the public for help identifying two men who allegedly broke into a liquor store and made off with liquor and cigarettes. The incident took place in Stamford at Wagon Wheel Liquors on Long Ridge Road around 4:20 a.m., on Monday, May 29. According to Stamford Police Sgt. Sean Scanlan, the two men broke the glass on the front door and made entry taking liquor and cigarettes. The loss of items and damage was over $5,000. Police are asking the public for help locating a white sedan that allegedly fled the scene after colliding with a Fairfield County motorcyclist. It took place around 12:25 p.m., Sunday, July 3, in Stamford on Newfield Avenue. Man Charged After Attempting To Enter Elementary School In Fairfield County, Police Say
A man from out of state has been charged after police said he attempted to enter an elementary school in Fairfield County. Just after 1 p.m. on Friday, May 27, school administrators in Stamford from Davenport Elementary School on Newfield Avenue noticed a suspicious man on the school campus, and immediately initiated a lockdown, according to Captain Diedrich Hohn, Commander of Special Investigations for the Stamford PD. Stamford Schools On Lockdown Following 'Incident'
There is a heavy police presence near several Fairfield County schools following an incident. Stamford Police said on Twitter that Newfield Avenue will be closed from Grey Farm Road to Vine Road until further notice. There is a lockdown at Trinity Catholic High School, which is located nearby on Newfield Avenue. Police said action involves an "isolated incident." An area woman is undergoing surgery after her car hit a school bus head-on in Stamford, police said. The incident took place around 12:21 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at 765 Newfield Ave., said Stamford Police Sgt. Jeff Booth with the Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad. Numerous Crashes Reported On Slick Area Roadways
Motorists in Fairfield County are already feeling the effects of the Nor'easter as downed trees have forced the closure of several major roadways. The Wilton Police Department announced that a tree is also down by Route 7, near Ridgefield Road. Officers and State Police are currently on scene. A crash also temporarily tied up traffic on I-95.
