A man faces animal cruelty charges after allegedly killing his daughter's dog with a kitchen knife in Connecticut, police said.
New Haven County resident Arnaldo Silva of Northford, age 51, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 15 after killing his daughter's two-year-old dog at his Woodvale Drive home, North Branford Police announced.
The events leading to Silva's arrest began on Monday, Nov. 13 just before 11:30 p.m., when authorities responded to the home and found a blood trail leading from the living room, down the hallway, and into Silva's bedroom, police said.

In an effort to help identify human remains that have been found in Connecticut, a “DNA Drive” has been planned, police said.
The DNA donation event, which will take place in New Haven County, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, according to the Connecticut State Police.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day at the University of New Haven, located at 300 Boston Post Road in West Haven, any person who has a missing loved one is encouraged to attend.

A man faces over 10 years in federal prison after using stolen postal keys to break into mailboxes at post offices in Connecticut, officials said.
Ixavier Holman Jr., age 31, of Secaucus, New Jersey, was arrested on Monday, June 12 on federal mail theft offenses, the US Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut announced.

Michael Yamin, the Connecticut Region 16 superintendent, pleaded guilty to reckless driving in Florida last month after prosecutors reduced his DUI charge, court documents show.
Police in Volusia County, Florida, pulled over Yamin, age 54, of Cheshire, last summer after they spotted him weaving in and out of his lane, records show. Officers said he slurred his words and stumbled as he got out of his 2018 Lincoln.

Homes in some regions in Connecticut are being considered “undervalued” amid the current housing bubble, according to a new Fortune Magazine report.
Fortune studied home price growth, which is wildly outpacing income growth across the country, with areas in Connecticut considered “overvalued" or “undervalued.”
Specifically, in Fairfield County, Bridgeport, Stamford, and Norwalk were considered undervalued.
Also undervalued for housing are Hartford, East Hartford, and Middletown, the report said.

Two Woman Shot, One Killed In Connecticut
One Connecticut woman was shot and killed, and another wounded in an overnight incident.
The incident took place in New Haven County around 2:15 a.m., Saturday, March 5 outside of 215 Hill St., in Waterbury.
The women were found when officers responded to weapons complaints outside of a home, said Lieutenant Ryan Bessette, of the Waterbury Police.
One of the victims, a 35-year-old Waterbury, resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, Bessette said.

New Haven County resident Saldi Hyska, age 23, of Seymour, turned himself in to Connecticut State Police on Thursday, Oct. 14, in connection with a search of his home following a lengthy investigation.

A new tornado touchdown from severe storm activity in the region on Thursday, Aug. 27 has been confirmed.
The National Weather Service announced on Sunday, Aug. 30 that an Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF) 0 twister touched down in Kent, Connecticut, near the Dutchess County border in Litchfield County, at 3:31 p.m. Thursday.
