Major Brush Fire In NY Spreads Smoke Into Fairfield County A major brush fire over at least a dozen acres in the Hudson Valley produced smoke that spread across the New York border into Connecticut. The blaze broke out at around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Putnam County in the area of Route 301 and East Boyds Road in the town of Kent and was finally contained late in the day on Sunday, Oct. 27. Search For Missing CT Man Causes Closures Of NY Lake Lake Carmel is closed to swimmers and boaters as emergency responders search for a missing man. The Lake Carmel Fire Department said it was dispatched on a report of a missing swimmer at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The man has been identified as a Connecticut resident in his 50s. The department was assisted in the search by the Carmel Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department dive team and Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Kent Police. Three Area Residents Injured After Mercedes Crashes Into Police Cruiser Several people injured in a crash on I-84 in Putnam County that also injured two New York State troopers have been identified. The crash occurred around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 on I-84 in the town of Kent when troopers were conducting a traffic stop of a 2005 Nissan sedan for a traffic violation, said Trooper AJ Hicks. During the stop, a 2006 Mercedes C280, driven by  Aleksandr J.
